Bruce Kilcoyne is a 40 plus year veteran of Schulz Automotive, and as an owner, Bruce has been instrumental in Schulz Automotive Machine's long term success. His experience is all encompassing for engines at all levels. Bruce is THE go to guy for all things engine in the Stateline area. When not at the shop, you can often find him at an SCCA National race helping tune the many Formula Ford engines he’s built, or helping another competitor get the last bit of tuning on his engine package, and even doing engine consulting with the nations best Porsche race shop, KMR. Bruce is an ASE Certified Master Engine Machinist, in the very first graduating class of ASE for Engine Machining.
Willie Bear has spent his whole life playing with cars and engines. He has a decade and a half in the engine machining business. He is highly detailed, and cares about getting the machining and tolerances just right. Willie is an excellent machinist at Schulz Automotive Machine. He is a complete car guy, as he even has the original car he drove and enjoyed in high school.
Ron Gallagher is a hard working solid man. He knows hard work, has excellent ethics, and has years of experience in repairing equipment, working on tractors, and engines of all types. Ron is dedicated to keeping Schulz Automotive Machine's long held reputation for high quality.
Schulz Automotive Machine is also owned by Marc Blanc and ThelmaRose Gerrits, Grandchildren of Founder Royce E. Schulz. ThelmaRose handles accounting and payables for the business, while Marc handles all other operations, including overseeing the 5 CARQUEST Auto Parts stores in the Stateline area. When not at the parts stores, you can find Marc involved in special projects at the shop, like competition engine design, or a Formula Ford project engine. Marc enjoys working on his own Rumely 6 puller, and with Bruce working on their record holding Swift and Crossle Formula Fords.

Unique air float table provides precise centering for EXTREMELY accurate valve and head work, including seat replacement, and precise setting of valve heights for diesel work
Sunnen Rod hone
Complete servicing of all connecting rods, including aluminum and titanium, from heavyweight pulling rods, to lightweight specialty connecting rods.
Peterson Crankshaft Grinder. Extremely accurate machine, with experienced staff to achieve the results you need. from a single cylinder Kohler, to long straight eight engines, and up to 10” strokes.
Peterson Crankshaft Welder. Submerged flux arc, with capability to vary hardness of the journal and radius to do the job correct.
Superflow Flow Bench.

DCM Flywheel Grinder.
Handling both flat and recessed flywheels, plus individual tractor floater plates. Flywheel lightening and balancing services also available.
Complete AMPRO Cleaning system. Take anything cast iron, and make it look completely new again. Thermal baking, shot peen, and stress relieved. No matter how grimy, and decades of rust and dirt, It comes out looking new.
Storm Vulcan Spray cabinet.

Kansas Instruments Belt Surfacer. For Exhaust Manifolds, odd projects, basically ANYTHING that needs to be resurfaced. We do many odd jobs for the local cheese and dairy industries with this machine.

Camshaft Degreeing and Recomendation services.
Get a recommendation for the correct camshaft, AND get it installed accurately and timed in to within 0.25 degrees.
MTE Pressure Test Rack.
For accurate and complete pressure testing of heads and blocks. We will find that pesky and minor leak that others can’t.
Pin Press and Rod Heater.
For accurate installation of pressed or free floated piston pins.
Glass Bead Machine.
For thorough and complete cleaning of aluminum, small and delicate parts. Excellent for your antique restoration project, automotive or not.
Ammco Brake Drum & rotor lathes. Accommodating all types of drums and rotors, including electric trailer brake drums.

For accurate magnaflux, inspection, and straightening of crankshafts of all sizes.
Profilometer for Verification of surface finish.
Unlike most shops, we have to capability to CONFIRM our machining processes, and give you our best specification of RA and RMS finish. Additionally, we provide THE BEST cylinder head and block surface finish in the area, and can prove it.
AERA Prosis Software.
We use the Automotive Engine Rebuilders software, for the most up to date information and specifications available in the industry. Whether working on a vintage engine, or a late model direct injection engine, we have the specifications.

When you have a special project, we not only have decades of experience to rely on, we will go the extra length in engineering calculations to confirm the success of the project. From Calculating piston speeds, and associated forces, to exacting cam timing calculations, with the attention to detail to get the best performance for your engine.
